7 Proven Steps To Stop Your Pool From Going Green Ever Again

Step 1: Put in an algaecide

Buy 2 bottles...put in a whole bottle first and then maintain every month with the recommended dose on the label. I like to think of algaecide as Insurance. It gives you more time to play with if your chlorine ever drops low enough for the pool to turn green. The algaecide kicks in until you put in more chlorine. But don't rely on it! Algae can still sneak up on you. Try to find a copper based algaecide as these ones tend to be the best.

Step 2: Shock the pool regularly

Shocking the pool can kill any algae that is ready to multiply. Plus its just good practice as it will bump up the free chlorine to kill any bacteria that maybe present in your water. Try to shock once every 3 weeks.

Step 3: Make sure the filters clean

this goes without saying. If your filter is clean and filtering your water properly this will solve a lot of your problems.

Step 4: Proper circulation

If your water is still it will become stagnant. It wont matter how much chemicals you throw at your pool. If it has poor circulation you will always run into problems. If you can point your water return jets to make the water swirl around like a whirlpool this will make the water less of a problem. Plus any debris will be pushed to the center of the pool so it will be much easier to pick-up.

Step 5: Maintain proper water balance

Always keep your water chemistry as close to perfect as possible. I shouldn't have to tell you this because it is the most important thing you should do.

Step 6: Test water every day

Yes...everyday! If you test your water chemistry every day nothing will sneak up on you. It will be easy to maintain because you will have tested the day before and you wont have to do much to keep it perfect. Only test with test kits that use drops or tablets. The strip tests are not accurate and can give you a false reading. It will be good practice to go into your pool shop weekly/fortnightly to get your water professionally tested just to make sure your doing ok.

Step 7: Keep the pool clean

Regularly take out leaves and any other foreign matter in the pool. Things like leaves and sticks from trees and put a significant strain on your chemical balance and give your chlorine a hard time. The less things in the pool the better. Regularly skim the water with a net and scoop the leaves from the bottom of the pool. Or better still...get an automatic pool cleaner.

The 2nd Most Important Travel Item - Next To Your Passport

Its a given that for travellers, the most important item they need to bring at all times would be their passport. Not only is this a valid form of identification, without this, they would not be permitted to go in and out of any country. After making sure that the passport is safely tucked inside their bag, what else should a traveller bring? Apart from his plane ticket, a traveller should always have a source of funds.

Traditionally, travellers would use either cold cash (converted to local currency) or travellers checks. These were sound ways to conduct business although each had their own pros and cons. The problem with carrying cash is that you will always be concerned about your wallet you may miss out on enjoying your vacation. With travellers checks, on the other hand, not all establishments honour these. The problem for both is that, when you run out of cash or travellers checks, youre vacation is doomed. Nowadays, travellers no longer need to contend with bulky wallets or dwindling travellers checks because they have credit cards.

Credit cards are virtual necessities for the tourist of today. Not only do cards give the holder the power to make purchases anywhere and anytime (as most are accepted by establishments the world over), they are also very handy (does not take up too much space in any purse or wallet) and quite safe to use.

Knowing that majority of travellers now prefer to carry plastic money instead of hard cash, credit card companies have taken it upon themselves to sweeten an already sweet deal. Through travel credit cards, card holders (especially those who travel a lot) not only get a sense of financial security even when they are away; they receive something back for every dollar purchase they make.

Just like earning rewards points, travel credit cards allow card holders to accumulate points which they can then redeem against a selected list of products or, depending on the internal arrangement of the card company and the airline frequent traveller program, convert these to mileage points. Some cards may even give card holders free upgrades in their hotel accommodation.

Travel credit cards were not exclusively created for frequent fliers. Even those who only dream of going places are welcome to use them, although they may not feel nor appreciate the benefits as much as those who belong in the target market. Non travellers can use these cards and, when the time is right, cash in on the points they have accumulated through the years.

There are many travel credit cards in the market and it is difficult to choose one based on hear-say or on gut feel. You have to evaluate the individual offers, determine which one best suits your lifestyle and your travel patterns. You should also try to see which card has existing tie ups with affiliates (hotels, restaurants, boutiques) you frequent. This allows you to maximize the benefits these cards offer. If you dont want to be burdened with several brochures from different banks, you can do your research on line. There are several websites that list down the travel cards available in the market and, alongside each card, are some basic information, their promotions, and a summary of their benefits. This brief yet concise format makes comparing cards easier for the consumer.

CardsRatings.net website is owned and run by Gloria Smith. At CardRatings.net you will find a listing of over 100 credit cards. Through Card Ratings comparing and applying for a credit card is made easier. After comparing the credit card offers on site, you can immediately apply for the credit card of your choice by clicking the Apply Online button. All applications are secure, and usually, a response will be sent to you right away. To apply for a Travel Credit Card, please visit: http://www.cardratings.net/rtravel.htm. Jaroslav Blog53160

8 Reasons To Fall In Love With Marrakech Travel

Just beneath the high mountain range of the African Atlas is the red city of Morocco known as Marrakech. With a culture that has grown to be so vibrant, free, and pure, who would have known that this imperial city only started as another pit stop for medieval caravans? However, regardless of its humble beginnings, you'll still be bound by its magic spell with the warmth of its people, inspiring history, and colorful tradition. Standing in the middle of the red city walls, you'll know for sure that you're in for a timeless escape with Marrakech travel. But to make the most out of your journey to this spellbinding exotic destination, here are the top eight things you shouldn't dare miss on your Marrakech travel:

1. Relive the memories of the old city.

The 13th century walls that surround the medina is reminiscent of ancient struggles and battles that took place in Morocco. A tour around the age-old fortresses, gates, and tanneries in your Marrakech travel is a good photo opportunity for tourists. Not only that, you'll also enjoy the inviting spirit of the modern city amidst the well-preserved relics, natural wonders, and architectural pieces of the past. With friendly people and bustling activities around the corner, you'll enjoy every minute of this experience.

2. Get lost with the crowd at Djemaa el Fna.

This large square that lies at heart of the old city is teeming with too many spectacles and surprises. From bargain shopping to snake charming, you'll never have a dull moment in your Marrakech travel. Open your eyes to a lot of things, which include juggling acts, musical performances, as well as belly dancing. You don't even have to worry about losing your way back to your hotel. As overwhelmingly large as it can be, the square offers a winding escape to interesting sites around the city.

3. Take a spiritual retreat.

They say that paying a visit to popular trails of mosques, churches, and other places of worship is a wonderful Marrakech travel experience that can be life-altering. However, for those who only wish to satisfy their curiosities, time is well-spent in admiring some of the most exquisite architectural designs in the world. You'll be stunned how Marrakech was able to preserve the intricate details and premedieval style of these structures but much more, how it preserved its solemnity. The famous pilgrimage for the "seven saints" is also found in this city, while the Saadian tombs is highly recommended by most tourist guides.

4. Shop and explore its very best.

Popular market stands also known as "souks" offer the best treat for bargain shopping. The bazaar is usually filled with exotic finds such as metal works, wood pieces, baskets, and leather sets-- some of which, you'll only find in Morocco. You'll also be advised not to end your Marrakech travel without a belt, jewelry, carpet, or any form of clothing that are found in the souk.

5. Take a journey to the past.

Marrakech is one of the best places to find age-old ceramics, paintings, mosaic, jewelries, and fabrics. Its museums house prestigious artifacts that date back to more than a thousand years. Manuscripts, contemporary arts, and traditional clothing are among the well-preserved collection. You may also take note in your Marrakech travel experience that museums here are not just brick-and-mortar structures but are also adorned with verdant gardens.

6. Stay in luxurious Riads in Marrakech.

Your Marrakech travel experience will not be complete without staying in the city's famous Riads. These are residential facilities that top any 5-star hotel in modern cities. With luxurious rooms, overlooking views of the fountain, roof top terraces, and exquisite decorations, Riads are one of the best reasons to stay in Marrakech.

7. Experience the colorful tradition of Morocco.

Embrace the Moroccan culture through entertainment activities and festivals in Marrakech. The Popular Arts Festival is a good way to add more life to your Marrakech travel adventures. Have a great time with fortune-tellers, fire swallowers, and acting troupes in the culmination of this festivity. Apart from carnival spectacles, you'll also witness the horse-riding parade known as Fantasia.

8. Treat yourself to fun-filled activities.

Popular streams of casinos, discos, and bars are found in the city. But remember, alcoholic drinks are not allowed. Chances are, you'll have to stay sober all night. Apart from enjoying Western hits and Moroccan pop music, your Marrakech travel adventure can never be complete without experiencing a taste of its gourmet paradise. Most cafes and restaurants in Marrakech offer a fusion of flavors from home grown recipes to international dishes.

Baby Shower Cake Ideas : For A Great Centrepiece and Dessert

A baby shower is a form of celebration that aims to welcome the newest member in the family. Although baby showers were originally intended only for first-borns modern practices now allow baby shower parties for every baby that comes in the family.

Baby showers are usually organized and arranged by the relatives and close friends of the parents-to-be. They are a good way to help parents get started with the things that they need for the baby. Note, however, that there are some cultures and religious beliefs that do not consider it proper and that it is considered bad luck to have a party and bring baby things in the house before the baby is born.

Over the years, baby showers have evolved into various names such as the following:

"Daddy's shower" - a men-only party for dads-to-be

"Grandma's shower" - a party where guests bring baby items (such as collapsible cribs and changing pads) that grandparents can keep at their house.

"Diaper showers" or "baby sprinkles" - a small-scale party that is usually held for succeeding children, and ideal for parents who do not need as many items (or gifts).

It is common for a baby shower to have a theme to which the entire party centers on. Baby shower essentials typically include games, presents, and food and a cake!

A party is not complete without a cake and this also applies to baby showers.

Cakes are one of the great things about baby showers and they can be made using various basic techniques, such as the following:

1. All-in-together - this is done by placing the dry ingredients in a food processor (together with the shortening) before gradually adding the liquid ingredients.

2. Creaming method - this is done by 'creaming' butter and sugar together before gradually adding the rest of the ingredients.

3. Rubbing method - this is done by 'rubbing' the butter into the dry ingredients before adding the liquid ones.

4. Melt-and-mix - this is done by are first mixing the dry ingredients together adding the melted butter and the other liquid ingredients afterwards to complete the cake.

5. Sponge-making - this is done by whipping the eggs and sugar into a froth, with the flour carefully mixed in. Making a light sponge requires great skill, as it does not use any raising agent or fat.

Finished cakes are usually enhanced with the use of frosting (icing) or toppings (such as sprinkles.

There are different varieties of baby shower cakes to choose from. Some of them are listed below:

Angelfood cake
Butter cake
Butterfly cake
Carrot cake
Cheesecake
Chocolate cake
Chiffon cake
Cupcake
Devil's food cake
Fruit cake
Gingerbread
Ice cream cake
Mooncake
Pineapple upside down cake
Pound cake
Spice cake
Sponge cake

Aside from the cake varieties above, there are also a lot of baby shower cake ideas that can make a baby shower celebration more special:

1. Belly Cake. One great idea is to design a baby shower cake and make it look like a pregnant belly. This can be done by placing a circular cake in front of a rectangular cake and frosting them together to resemble that of a pregnant belly.

2. Toy Blocks Cake. Another idea is to design a baby shower cake and make it look like children's toy blocks (either one large block or 3 to 4 smaller blocks). Toy block cakes can be further enhanced by surrounding them with candies or little toy cars.

Of course, you can also experiment and try to come up with creative ideas of your own. Remember that the 'goal' is not only to make a yummy dessert, but also a great centerpiece that will stand out in the memories of the parents-to-be.

Top Ten Tips To Get Your Baby Sleeping Better

Having a new baby is an incredibly exciting time, but it can also be filled with a great deal of anxiety. One major source of that anxiety is if you have a baby who isnt sleeping well. Sleep deprivation will quickly wear you down, and your baby will be exhausted and irritable as well. When this pattern goes on for months, a once happy little family can rapidly turn into a tired and cranky crowd.

Much of this angst can be eliminated by helping your baby learn to sleep independently. A baby who sleeps who sleeps independently is usually a baby who sleeps through the night and takes nice, long naps on a consistent basis. Enabling your baby to learn how to sleep better should be a simple and gentle process, and most often your baby even have to shed a tear. This article will provide you with some important tips from the baby sleep book, Sleep Baby Sleep, and will help get you started on your way to having a better sleeping baby and a well-rested house.

#1 Establish a Consistent Nighttime Routine

One important aspect to getting your baby to sleep through the night is to have a consistent bedtime ritual. A solid evening routine will help your child understand that it is time for sleep when the routine is complete. A typical schedule might include a bath, some quiet time, a final feeding, and then a good-night kiss. Though your particular routine may vary, it is important make sure you have some kind of consistency at bedtime.

#2 Help your Baby Learn how to Fall Asleep Independently

Each time your baby is ready to sleep, no matter what time of day or night it is, you have a brand new opportunity to help your baby learn how to fall asleep without your help. If you try your hardest to seize each of these opportunities, your baby will be sleeping through the night sooner than you can believe. Keep in mind though that this is a process, and not an overnight miracle. Be consistent in your efforts and you will quickly teach your baby how to fall asleep without your help.

#3 Put your Baby to Sleep Awake

If you get only one idea from this article, its that you need to try to put your baby to sleep while he is still awake. In other words, try to avoid having your baby fall asleep before you put him down. Be sure that your routine includes putting your baby in the crib or bassinet before she is asleep. If you put your baby to bed awake, she will more readily learn how to fall asleep without your help and your baby will sleep much better.

#4 Establish a Daytime Nap Routine

Sometimes figuring out a good daytime routine can be even more challenging than the one at bedtime. Out of sheer exhaustion and the desire to get a few minutes to yourself, you might be inclined to do absolutely anything to get your baby down for a nap. The problem with this is that your baby will begin to need that particular method in order to nap (for example, driving around, rocking, nursing, etc). You wont be happy if your baby can only take a nap in the car, or nap only if you lie down beside her, or only if you rock her to sleep. Instead, try to get your baby napping by falling asleep alone, and youre likely to wind up with a great little sleeper on your hands.

#5 The Family Bed should you or shouldnt you?

A family bed is not a bad thing, and many families the world over would have it no other way. If its something you want and have planned for, then by all means do it! On the other hand, if you have wound up with a family bed only because your baby cannot fall asleep any other way, then it might time to rethink your situation. A family bed could last for years, and if unwanted, often results in frustration and resentment and chronic sleep deprivation.

#6 Waking up Throughout the Night

Most, if not all, babies wake up several times throughout the night. Even a baby who is already sleeping through the night wakes up numerous times during the night. The key is that if your baby knows know how to fall back to sleep on his own, he wont need you to put him back to sleep. So, dont rush in as soon as your baby wakes up in the middle of the night. Instead, give it some time and you might be pleasantly surprised to find that your baby falls back to sleep on his own.

#7 Getting Baby on a Schedule

Most people thrive on some sort of a schedule, and babies are no different. Your child is likely to function much better if he becomes familiar with the same events that happen throughout the day. If you get your baby on a schedule with a regular agenda, she will quickly figure out when it is time for sleep and will fall asleep much easier. Keep in mind though that everyone needs a little flexibility built into their life, so make sure that you are not too inflexible with your babys daily routine.

#8 Avoid using Aids to Help your Baby Sleep

Many exhausted parents resort to external aids to get their babies sleeping (for example, constantly using a pacifier, driving your baby around, and rocking or nursing your baby to sleep). Though your baby might initially fall asleep sleep quicker with these external aids, you are ultimately making your job much more difficult. The problem is that it helps you avoid teaching your baby how to fall asleep alone. Instead, take the time to get your baby falling asleep without any help, and he will fall asleep faster and sleep better.

#9 Be Consistent

The more regular you are in how you put your baby to sleep, the quicker and easier it will be for your child to learn how to sleep independently. No matter how tired you are, or how much you might be dreading the night ahead, a consistent effort will pay off quickly. Be patient with yourself, as it is not always easy to keep with your plan when you are intensely sleep deprived. Just be as consistent as possible, and you will see results.

#10 Take Time for Yourself

Its so easy to forget about yourself when you have a new baby. But playing the parent role 24/7, and having no time of your own could cause you to grow resentful and feel deprived. Instead, make a conscious effort to ensure that you get some time for yourself. Youll feel rejuvenated, happier, and youll have more energy to devote to your family. You can and will be an amazing parent even though you get a little bit of downtime, and theres no better time to do it than when your baby is sleeping soundly. Enabling your baby to sleep independently is truly a priceless gift that youll give to everyone under your roof. Your baby will be much happier if he is better rested, and so will you!

Poetry Critique - Critique The Poem - Not The Poet

The act of writing poetry is something that is very personal to us poets, and sharing it for the first time can be a very frightening experience. The first experience of having your work criticized can boggle your mind and set you back a step in your writing. However, critique is essential in any writers career. Accepting criticism is something that we all must face, even if we don't like it.

When I received my first harsh critique, it was on an Ezboard workshop, and right then I wanted to give up writing. My critics were arrogant and, in my opinion, very mean. It was a most painful experience. After running an online writing community for the last four years, I have met a few arrogant and mean people, just like the one on Ezboard. I think that some of these poets have gone to workshops, and have been critiqued in this manner, so now they think this is how one critiques. Wrong!

How to give a critique:

Short reviews like: "good poem," "I like this," and "awesome," are not useful to any poet. When giving a critique, remember that poets are looking for an in-depth critique. As writers, we thrive on and grow as writers by getting both positive and negative comments on our work. At all times keep your responses respectful. You don't have to take a critical, lengthy review approach, when commenting on others poetry. You might just want to comment on the way the poem struck you, what you liked about a poem, or what threw you off about a poem. Maybe you can quote part of the poem and tell why you liked that verse. You don't have to write a book; just a few comments can really help someone know what works and what doesn't. Remember to be tactful, and never disrespect the writer. Poets are sensitive souls, and they take their poetry to heart. There is a wrong way, and a right way to say everything. You can offer constructive criticism, where the poet is going to learn from it without being disrespectful; never mock your fellow poet.

Here is an example: You just read a poem and all you can find are reasons you disliked it. Maybe it had a number of spelling/grammar mistakes, and run on sentences. Instead of commenting on just the bad parts of the poem, start out by pointing out the good things. For instance, you could say, I think you've done a really fine job expressing your emotions. However, I believe that your poem could use some work on the structure to make it complete. I noticed a few spelling and grammar mistakes. I really think this is a good attempt and, if you are looking for a more in-depth critique, I would be happy to work with you to tighten up the poem.

How not to give a critique:

Never critique the author; critique the poem. Never change the poem, and put it in your own words. When you do this, it is no longer the poets thoughts. Never think that you are an expert in your field. All poets have room for improvement. Never look at another poet as a failure. Instead, keep in mind, just as in movies, not every poem will appeal to you. Don't point out every line in the poem that needs work. You should save that for a more in-depth critique, if the poet desires it. Don't come off as an arrogant critic, which is not the way to help people, or win friends in the writing business.

Critique is important to all poets. However, if you feel that you are an expert on poetry with no room for improvement yourself, then maybe you should stay away from critique groups. Instead, turn your creative energy toward your own work to see how you might improve it."

How To Find Out Deceptive Credit Card Offer

The internet is the place of limitless ideas, products, businesses and anything under the sun. It could also be a place of deceptive offers and persuasive advertisements?

Credit cards are already becoming a must-have item nowadays. People are seeking to own one to facilitate their shopping and traveling. Credit cards are very important properties that can be equated to cash. Almost every product that is available for sale can be purchased using the credit card. Restaurants are offering foods to be served for a credit card. Hotel rooms are made available in one swipe. Plane tickets and cruise line fees at hand provided by credit cards. There is nothing to ask for if one has a credit card.

Debts are natural to be included in credit cards. And these debts can be directly relative to the card issuer company. There are many things to look up to when credit card and credit card offers is being the subject of the conversation.

The internet, being the place of instant shop less the hassle, is also becoming the place of fraudulent offers be it form any product and even to credit cards. There are fake or marketing companies that use the internet to win attention from people who would want to their own credit card. There are a lot of them and they are drastically growing.

These companies are not actually lending companies. They can appear to be foundations that offer credit solution and the like but acts and talks the same way as a credit company. There are many ways and strategies that they are doing just to capture the attention of many and rob their money. What are the things that these fake lending companies are saying and what are the offers they frequently brag? Here are some pointers to consider on how to know whether a lending company is a fake or not.

-When companies are starting to offer zero interest and low interest at the same time but not telling what type of credit card is going to be given, chances are that the company is not giving away or is not a lending company but a marketing or sales company. This company maybe referring to one-time-credit-cards or gift checks that can be used to purchase products from the company. The card that they will give can never be used in any ATM around the world.

-When companies disregard your credit history or situation, then these certain companies maybe just pretending to be real. No lending company will disregard a credit situation of a client. Companies think first of the profits that they can get from the client and will not accommodate any losses due to non-payment.

-When companies disregard the age and employment status of a person, there is a higher possibility that these companies are just make-believing. The capacity of a person to pay is determined through his employment status. When this is disregarded, what good can it bring to the lending company? In addition, most banks and lending companies prioritize those younger person rather than the old ones. This is in lieu with the ability-to-pay scheme that lending companies are implementing.

There are still a lot of doubtful offers that you may encounter not just in the internet but also in newspapers and other media. To make sure you will not be victimized by these people, try to contact reliable banks and lending companies rather than infamous lending companies.

Pure Silver Fine Silver

Wearing silver jewelry is quite fashionable for young people and its white luster bestows a serene elegance on the wearer. You will find exquisite silver jewelry available in the market ranging from beautiful silver charms, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, bangles and watches. Its much more affordable compared to gold and exudes a shine quite similar to platinum.

Silver has been used to make jewelry right the time of the Phoenician, Byzantine and Egyptian empires. Today, most of the worlds silver comes from the mines of Mexico and Peru.

Pure silver is call fine silver. Since silver in its purest forms is very soft and quite malleable, other metals are mixed, to make it more durable. Its important to look out for the 925, .925 or Sterling Silver mark, when buying jewelry because these marks ensure that the silver is 92.5% pure. The remaining 7.5 percent of the jewelry is copper. Even though any other metal can be used to make up the 7.5 percent, copper is preferred since it is found to be the most suited alloy to silver as it can improve the metals hardness and durability without diminishing its white luster.

The 925, .925 or Sterling Silver marks shows that the silver jewelry you are buying is not silver plated and not an imitation made with other white colored metal alloys. At the same time, if you find a mark higher than the recommended 92.5%, avoid buying the piece as it will be too soft. It cant endure everyday wear and is not worth the money spent.

One thing about silver jewelry is that it develops a tarnish, which occurs quite naturally when it interacts with sulfur or hydrogen in the surrounding air. Tarnish can be removed by using polish specifically formulated to remove tarnish from silver jewelry. Silver polishes, solutions, or cloths required to remove tarnish can be found at local hardware stores or specialty craft stores.

Avoid exposing silver to chemicals such as bleach or ammonia which may happen when you are cleaning your house. When swimming in chlorinated water remove or set aside your silver jewelry, such as earring or chains, before your swim. Such exposures will only damage silver jewelry. Its best to place your silver jewelry in cloth pouch or in a separate area of you jewelry box. Proper care will ensure that your silver jewelry lasts for a lifetime.

Finding The Right Stained Glass Grinder

I run a glass supplies studio and one of the most commonly asked question is about which grinder is best for my customer. Since I can understand what a large purchase it is for my students, I like to ask them a series of questions to determine which one is best for their needs. There are plenty of models to choose from so it could be a hard decision.

A stained glass grinder is used by an artist to shaped stained glass as soon as its been cut into a rough shape using a glass cutter. Since your finished product is dependent on all the glass pieces fitting neatly, its probably no wonder that you want to have a tool that will make it easier to reach that goal. Grinders use a diamond coated bit to grind away all the extra stained glass and prepare the edges for the copper foil. The grinder will help you smooth the rough spots of your piece and lead you to a nicer looking end product. Typically, you will get 2 grinding heads with your purchase of a stained glass grinder. One is used for detailed jobs and the other is used to shape large pieces of glass.

While you can get away with a certain amount of time without a grinder,i bet that you'll find that its worth every penny. At some point every glass artist will want to invest in a grinder. Its money well spent with the time that they can save from doing it by hand.

When choosing which grinder, you have to consider what your planned use is. For my students, I always recommend something they can use as their skills grow. Its an expensive investment, but once you've spent the initial money you'll find that you can get more features for just a little more money. You want to make sure that the grinder can withstand the amount of work you will be doing over the years.

There are only a few things that you want to think about when you buy a grinder. Price is dependent on your budget and your expected annual use of the grinder. RPM's measure how fast the bit turns and torque measures how strong the resistance to stained glass.

How much you plan on using the grinder will determine which grinder is ideal for your needs. If you are planning on using it only a few times annually, then a good option is the Wiz CG by Inland. For someone taking their hobby a little more serious then i would recommend The Wizard IV. And for the serious stained glass artists, the G8 All Star by Glastar is a fantastic choice. This is typically the choice of serious artists and professionals

With these tips you should be well on your way to choosing the right grinder for your budget.

Dave Roth is a stained glass artist and owns a retail stained glass supplies store in Tinley Park, IL and online at http://www.scstainedglass.com . He also has been teaching stained glass classes for the past 10 years.Jacobo Blog94845

Choosing Car Seats And Boosters

Car seats and boosters have become compulsory items to have in the car for a child due to recent regulations. This article outlines the difference between the types of seats and why they are so important.

A car seat booster is something that it used in conjunction with your normal seat belt. The first type has no back, but just a base. Its main purpose is to raise the child so that the seat belt goes correctly across the shoulder, without the seat booster raising the height, the belt can cut across the neck.

The car seat will also allow the waist strap of the belt to fit correctly around the hip. If the booster is not used then the belt can slide up to the stomach which could cause internal injuries if an accident occurred.

Its important to point out that this type of car seat booster must be used in conjunction with a seat belt that goes across the neck as well as the waist. Otherwise, the childs head may fly forward and hit the back of the sat in front.

If this type of seat is used, then your rear seats should have a head rest as well which should cup the head at ear level. This will help reduce sideways movement of the head which could be dangerous.

If you car doesnt have head rests then the second type of booster can be used. This car seat booster comes complete with a high back rest and a head rest as well. This type if car seat can also be used with cars that already have a head rest.

If your dont use a car seat booster then the childs position could be putting them at risk. If the belt is too high across the stomach, the child could in fact slip underneath it if an accident occurred. Sometimes, the child will place their arm over the shoulder strap to prevent it hurting their neck. This again will put them at risk which can be prevented with a seat booster.

It is not recommended that the child sits in the front seat as their head may hit the dash board. They should also not sit in the front if the car is fitted with an air bag.

For babies and toddlers, you will need to use a special seat before the baby is big enough to use a booster. At first the baby will need to use a seat which allows them to face backwards until the neck muscles are strong enough and they are of sufficient weight. Each car seat will come with guidelines which you must read.

Concerning what age and weight your child should be to use a car seat booster will depend on the country or state you are in. In Washington for example, a seat of this type should be used up to 6 years old or 60 pounds in weight. Make sure you check the regulations for your state or country on which type of seats should be used and when.

Clothing for Change

Imagine browsing the stores looking for fun new fashions, checking the fit, feeling the softness, checking the tag to find Made with 100% cotton, grown with 1/3 pound of pesticides, colored with reactive dyes fixed with heavy metals and produced by children in unsanitary, low-wage sweatshop conditions. Labeling standards dont yet require that information, and nobody is offering it up voluntarily, but the reality is that the latest trendy top you are looking at just might fit the bill.

For health and social reasons, many consumers today have made the switch to cotton from petroleum-based synthetic fibers such as polyester, but the fabric of our lives is not necessarily a choice without consequences. Globally, 25% of insecticide use is attributable to cotton production. In addition, conventional growing of cotton makes heavy use of pesticides and fertilizers. These insecticides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers then seep into our soil and waterways. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has deemed seven of the top 15 pesticides used on U.S. cotton crops to be potential or known human carcinogens.

Much of the apparel in the US is made in sweatshops where workers labor in unsafe, unsanitary conditions, are paid wages so low they must struggle to provide for their families, and children are exploited.

Fortunately, there are alternatives. Todays fashion market has a wealth of environmentally and socially responsible options, such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, soy, and organic wool.

Certified organic cotton is grown with consideration for the natural biodiversity, without the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers. The advantages go beyond the health and environmental benefits though. Organic cotton fibers tend to be longer-staple, producing stronger softer yarns, and, thus longer-lasting softer garments.

Let's not stop with organic cotton. Hemp is another natural fiber beginning to blossom in the eco-fashion industry. Hemp is most often grown without herbicides, fungicides or pesticides. With fibers longer, stronger and more absorbent than cotton, hemp produces strong yarns and garments that last. Naturally resistant to bacteria and UV light, hemp is a great choice for socks, shoes, and apparel.

And how will it look in your closet? The days of loose hemp anti-styles are no longer. Todays hemp wear has its place in cutting edge design, knits that hug the body, linen-quality dresses that flatter the figure, and sturdy canvas shoes.

So don't be discouraged that 100% cotton isn't such a 100% natural choice. Today we have many options in eco-friendly and socially responsible apparel without compromising fashion. Fashion is about finding your own style. Shouldnt your style be in line with your values?

The Truth Behind The Back Sleep Position For Infants

The present threat of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) among infants has created a stir not only to mothers, but to medical experts as well. Over the years, modern science have been looking for better sleeping position that can prevent such tragedy.

Among babies, sleeping on ones back is recommended as opposed to sleeping on ones stomach. It has been a popular myth that when babies are allowed to sleep on their backs, they are most likely to choke. This is actually not the case. Most babies do vomit or spit during sleep. When this happens, some believed that babies are prone to choking when they are in a back sleep position. The truth is - babies involuntarily swallow any fluid they produce while in sleep. Doctors state that there has been no instance where such incidents were increased with such sleeping position.

A distinguished medical organization, the American Academy of Pediatrics, recommended infants to sleep on their backs. Medical experts attest that the back sleep position can decrease the risk of SIDS. Modern research shows that the chances of acquiring SIDS among children were lowered dramatically by almost 40% each year if such sleeping position was implemented. It is actually beneficial for babies if they are in this position as they can easily move their arms and legs.

Babies who are 2- 4 months old are likely to shift positions, put them back to the back sleep position by carefully rolling them over. Another option is to carefully swaddle them in a comfortable blanket to prevent them from sleeping on their stomach. You can also get one of those special swaddling blankets available in the market.

At first, your babies may find it uncomfortable to sleep on their backs because they naturally sleep on their stomachs. It would be the parents or the guardians responsibilities to train them in the back sleep position. With enough practice, they would eventually make it a sleeping habit. When training your babies, remember to remind your relatives or babysitters who might put your child into sleep in case of your absence.

What You Need To Know To Price Your Artwork

Attempting to put a price on your work is one of the hardest tasks there is. To do it properly, you have to remove your emotions about your creation and view it solely as a commercial product. You must then assess objectively how it compares with other similar art, consider why they should cost more than some and less than others along with what your clients can afford, and ultimately come up with a pricing structure.

Before you settle on a number, you need to understand all of the costs you will incur so that you ultimately profit from the sale. It's possible that some artists in the market have their own reproduction equipment, or have supplier agreements that allow them to sell work at a price that you not be able to.

Understanding your costs:

This may be obvious, but you need to know the cost to create or reproduce your work. Don't underestimate your time for the time you spend doing this you are taking time away from other important processes. If you are doing the reproduction yourself, it's simply the cost of the materials and your time, which you should base on an humble per hourly rate, in order to create the artwork.

If you decide to subcontract the reproduction of your work; use the cost they are charging you to do this. It's important that you ensure that their quality is up to your standard as it will be a reflection of your work. While you should price around to get the best deal, cost is not always the most important factor as the partnering company should to be responsive to your needs.

Also, don't forget about shipping costs, sales tax, and credit card processing fees. If you do not understand the cost structure around these fees in your transactions, your total margin will be significantly cut.

Recapturing Operational Expenses:

Try to build in some amount to recapture expenses for the initial creation of the artwork, and help cover other operational expenses (i.e. advertising, web site hosting, photography equipment, film). Coming up with this number will be a best guess that will evolve over time as you get a better handle of your expenses.

Profit Margin:

This is what you'll ultimately make on each sale. Each person needs to decide for themselves what their price strategy should be. You may want to consider, for example, setting lower price points thus making more money by moving more of your product. The alternative is to price your work higher and make more per unit. It is somewhat of a fine line, as you do not want to instill in the mind of collectors that your work is not of great value. However you want to keep your prices high enough so that you reinforce the value of your work to the collector base.

Can You Afford Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Well, youve checked out some local clinics and you know the risks involved. You like the look of everybodys before and after pictures and youre all set to part with your hard earned cash. But how can you be sure if your local professional isnt making you pay through the nose? Heres how. You need a critical overview of the guide price for all laser hair removal treatment, as well as individual prices for some of the best laser clinics out there.

First though a warning. Every practitioner will tell you theyre the cheapest, just as every form of hair removal will boast its long term cost-effectiveness over its closest rival. This can make it difficult and misleading at the start of your search. The best thing to do if youre shopping around is to get as many quotes as you can for the same length of treatment. Youll begin to see the patterns, and you can decide for yourself if lasers fall inside your budget or not. For lengthy hair removal requirements, you may decide that waxing didnt hurt that much after all.

The other thing to consider is whether or not youre a good candidate for laser treatment. Light skinned consumers with dark hair have the best results, and grey, red or blonde hair tends to take a lot longer. So consider how many treatments youre likely to need. How big and how dense is the area requiring treatment? Along with your practitioner and geographical area, these factors will all influence the sale price.

The national average for one basic treatment of laser therapy is about $360. Its a little cheaper in the South, and getting on for $500 in the Midwest. Of course, most consumers who are serious about hair removal wont stop at one treatment, so a lifetimes supply of laserology could set you back many thousands of pounds, depending on the uniqueness of you, and on the effectiveness of your chosen professional.

Palmer Dermatology of Centerville, OH, charge $200 per treatment, and recommend 3-4 treatments for best results. A 6-treatment package for your bikini line at Aptos Medical Arts, CA is $500. And Sona, the nations market leader, dont even mention the bottom line money is no object when it comes to your ultimate solution. If all this sounds a little too rich for your taste, just remember a pot of Aussie Nads Hair Removal Gel is just $25

Remember, you shouldnt necessarily take the price list of your local laserologist as written in stone. Ask for special offers. Explain that youll be a regular customer, youll be parting with a lot of money and you want to pay for all treatments upfront in exchange for a discount. Beyond this, you can bring a friend along and see if youll get a discount for a referral. Ask if they run financing schemes in exchange for buying for multiple areas or packaging with another procedure.

Doctors and laserologists are business people too, and they want you as a customer. Think about your options, and dont be put off at first glance.

Stress Following Your Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery produces such amazing results that many people fail to take into account what is involved in the process. This can lead to unnecessary stress following a procedure.

Stress Following Your Plastic Surgery

The purpose of plastic surgery is really two fold. It is to improve an aspect of your body that you are unhappy with on a daily basis. By so doing, plastic surgery should also add to your mental well being since you are addressing some aspect of your body that makes you unhappy. While this sounds straightforward, many patients fail to seriously focus on what is going to occur during and after the procedure. This can lead to extreme stress and unhappiness following it.

Assume you have always hated the appearance of your nose. For the purpose of this example, we will assume you have a large nose with a significant bump along the ridge. Frankly, people stare at it when talking to you and it makes you very self-conscious. You live with it for years, but finally decide to have something done. After selecting and consulting with a cosmetic surgeon, you have the procedure. Immediately following the procedure, you awake to pain. A look in the mirror shows massive swelling, black eyes and a face you barely recognize. Shock, fear and stress immediately set in. This occurs despite the fact your surgeon told you what to expect after the surgery.

Plastic surgery is not like buying a new car. You do not get to show it off immediately. Unless it is a very minor procedure, you are not going to look good immediately afterwards. Surgeons tell patients this, but the advice is often disregarded. Why? Patients tend to focus on the result they expect and are very happy about finally doing something about whatever it is that bothers them.

It is vital to understand that most plastic surgery procedures are invasive. This means the body suffers trauma to some extent. A mere incision is considered trauma. When the body experiences this, it reacts to protect and heal the problem area. Depending on the procedure, this can mean blood will be rushed to the area. This will present as bruising and swelling. It is going to happen, so you need to prepare yourself mentally for it. The presence of bruising and swelling does not mean your surgeon made a mistake. It is a natural process.

If you are going to have plastic surgery, you need to understand the recovery process is going to take time. How much? Your surgeon can tell the answer for your specific procedure. Regardless, it is important that you not stress out or judge the results during the recover period. You should only do this after the bruising is gone and the swelling resolved.

The Laserlyte Lift The First True Non-Surgical Face Lift

Nearly everyone over 30 years old sees wrinkles, loose skin and other signs of facial aging staring back at them in the mirror. Many would like to have a fresher younger looking face but no one wants to have plastic surgery. In recent years technological advances such as Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, and new Lasers, IPL and skin tightening machines like Thermage, Titan, LuxIR, and Aluma, have improved the plastic surgeons ability to rejuvenate the face non-surgically, but none have been able to deliver the often promised non-surgical face-lift. The best results have achieved about a 30 % tightening of the facial skin. Dramatic results have been achieved in wrinkle removal when proper techniques have been applied, but true lifting or tightening of the facial skin has been modest at best

The new LaserLyte Lift promises to achieve a much more significant rejuvenation and lifting of the face with a new non-surgical multi-modality technique three phase procedure which not only tightens the facial skin but also removes wrinkles and other aging changes on the surface of the skinall achieved non-surgically with minimal or no down time.

This new non-surgical high tech procedure is based on the theory that all of the skin layers must be treated and rejuvenated to accomplish true facial rejuvenation and is based on the principles of the 6-step facial rejuvenation program outlined in my book Save Your Face-The Revolutionary 6-Step Facial Rejuvenation Program.

The important changes in the facial skin which lead to an aged appearance occur predominantly in 3 layers-the epidermis or outer layer that you see in the mirror, and two deeper layers-the superficial and the deep dermisthe pink part of your skin you see when you scrape your knee.

As we age, the suns UV rays, and other age related factors damage all 3 layers of the skin. We see these changes in the form of wrinkles, brown spots and dry skin-changes in the Epidermis or outer layer. However the major changes causing wrinkles and sagging skin is damage to the 2 deeper layers of the dermis.

The result of aging changes in both layers of the dermis is the loss of collagen. Collagen plumps the skin and gives the skin its tone and elasticity. When we lose collagen from the dermis the skin loses volume and becomes wrinkled-the same way a plum turns into a prune when it loses water after drying. In addition when we lose collagen we lose elasticity, the skin does not snap back when we pull on it and release it, and the skin sags.

The key to non-surgical facial rejuvenation or a non-surgical face-lift is to remove the superficial aging changes form the superficial epidermis and restore new collagen and thus volume and elasticity to both the superficial and deep layers of the dermis

Contemporary non-surgical methods such as laser, IPL, Radiofrequency (Aluma, Thermage), and Infrared (LuxIR, Titan,) energies are capable of treating the surface of the skin and the deep dermis, but do not treat the middle layer of the dermis and thus cannot achieve complete non-surgical rejuvenation or a non-surgical face-lift.

New technology has finally enabled us to treat the middle skin layer-the upper dermis and stimulate new collagen regeneration in this layer using a 1540 fractionated erbium laser made by Palomar, with minimal or no down time. Thus we are now able to treat all three skin layers affected by aging, removing surface irregularities such as wrinkles, brown spots, and dry skin, and restoring collagen and thus plumping volume and elasticity to the middle and deep skin layers.

Thus we can achieve a true non-surgical facial rejuvenation or non-surgical face-lift for the first time addressing all three layers of the aged skin.

This procedure is called the LaserLyte Lift because Laser and other forms of light (lyte) energy are used to treat the three skin layers. The procedure takes time, as it requires multiple treatments scheduled several weeks apart over a time course of several months. However the results are striking-you can see them and believe themyou dont have to try to convince yourself that they are there as you have with so many miracle wrinkle cures you have tried in the past.

The LaserLyte Lift involves three treatment protocols or phases.

Phase I begins with the important first 2 steps of the 6-step program, deep exfoliation and stimulation of new collagen growth near the surface of the skin. This phase removes wrinkles, brown spots and restores the skins shiny glow. This is the LaserLyte Peel achieved with the Lumenis Active Fx laser. This peel is performed with a topical skin anesthetic, takes 25 minutes, and leaves you pink for 4-5 days. Some people only need one peel others may need 2 or 3.These peels are scheduled 6-8 weeks apart.

Phase II-which is painless and involves no down time begins about 4weeks after your first LaserLyte Peel and is the start of your skin tightening regimen through stimulation of new collagen growth in the deep dermal layer by the application of Infrared or other energy which penetrates through the epidermis and superficial dermis to the deep dermis, to restore collagen and elasticity and tighten the facial skin. Treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart and at least 4 sessions are required.

The start of Phase III, mid dermal collagen stimulation, which involves no pain and minimal pinkness for a few hours only, using the 1540 or similar effective wavelength starts at a variable timetable depending on how many LaserLyte Peels you need. If you only need one peel Phase 3 can begin as early as 2-3 months and be alternated with Phase 2 at 2-week intervals. If you need 3 LaserLyte Peels then Phase 3 will not begin until 5-6 months.

While the LaserLyte Lift takes time it is the only method of facial rejuvenation to actively treat all three layers of the skin and thus the only method to achieve effective facial rejuvenation non-surgically. In fact, the LaserLyte Lift achieves more thorough facial rejuvenation than a surgical face-lift. A surgical face-lift only tightens the skin, after a surgical face-lift you have tight old skin. The LaserLyte Lift renews and rejuvenates all three skin layers, thus when you are finished your face truly looks younger, and remember, you are avoiding surgery and its dangers and discomfort. More importantly you are achieving true facial rejuvenation with wrinkle removal and new collagen, which plumps and tightens your skin to a truly youthful appearance.

As technology advances we undoubtedly will be able to achieve results is less time. However at present the LaserLyte Lift is the only method for rejuvenation of all three skin layers and it takes several months to achieve a good result.

For some people with very severe aging plastic surgery will be the best option, either in the form of a face-lift or laser resurfacing or both.

But for the vast majority of my patients who I see daily in my practice the LaserLyte Lift is an excellent way to achieve true facial rejuvenation without surgery a real non-surgical face-lift, with results you can see. No face cream, diet, laser, IPL, or other technology alone can achieve as good a result.

If you start before you have severe aging changes you will likely never need to have a face-lift.

Baby Shower Gifts - The Secrets That Make Sure Your Baby Gifts Are Unique And Stand The Test Of Time

When it comes to baby shower gifts, how much do you know about it?

Baby showers are a great distraction for mothers to be, while they wait in anticipation for their brand new little bundle of joy.

For those arranging the party, it can be a lot of fun setting up beautifully themed baby shower decorations and preparing the seating and side dishes, along with the most important part - the gift table.

While all of the preparation is going on, the guests are just as busy.

Guests have their own little mission and that is to compete with all of the other guests to find the mom and baby-to-be the coolest, most unique baby shower gifts.

Gone are the days when a few diapers, bibs, bonnets and booties were considered to be an ample gift. Although these are useful baby gifts, they are lacking in fun, uniqueness and will quickly be forgotten by the mother to be when her bundle of joy comes into the world.

So how does a guest make sure that their baby shower gifts are both remembered and treasured?

Easy, by making sure that the baby gift is useful, unique and can be used long after the baby has been born - a gift that will stand the test of time.

Personalized photo albums, wall prints that can hold the new born birth certificate or even personalized treasure boxes are great examples of new baby gifts that will keep on giving long after the diapers and booties have gone or are lost.

You may notice that all of the above baby shower gifts have one thing in common - they are personalized.

Cool baby shower gifts are those that look as though a lot of thought has gone into them which show that you really care. Not a baby shower gift that looks as though you have jumped in the car minutes before the party, gone to the mall and grabbed the first thing that looked like a baby gift, then gone out to get your hair done.

But if you shop online for the perfect gift, you can be getting your hair done as well as have the perfect gift, :-)

When choosing baby shower gifts that are unique, useful, personalized and absolutely cool, your imagination really is the limit.

So don't just look for traditional, every day, run-of-the-mill newborn baby gifts that everyone else will be purchasing and bringing along to the party. If outrageous baby gifts like diamond set pacifiers aren't your cup of tea, then why not consider getting a beautifully packaged personalized baby gift basket, overflowing with an array of different things for the baby.

Most importantly, remember to include a great greeting card, oftentimes, baby shower cards, along with newborn and birthday cards, are kept as keep sakes.

Make your card funny, personal or what ever really describes the relationship with the new baby and mom to be. Baby showers are supposed to be fun, so enjoy yourself. Baby shower gifts are supposed to be special, so make sure that your gift counts.

Are Travel Agents A Thing Of The Past?

In the past, before the advent of the Internet, it has largely been too time consuming or too expensive for the average consumer to deal directly with the travel operator and personally arrange every aspect of their holiday. Travel agents became a trusted and speedy medium via which the holiday consumer could book a package that would otherwise be impossible for the independent consumer to find.

The role of the travel agent includes three key tasks:

1) Perform the function of the information broker, passing information between buyers and suppliers

2) Process transactions including printing tickets and forwarding money to suppliers

3) Advise travellers on places to go, things to do and other important information

These three tasks have been lampooned by the information and facilities provided on the Internet. Consumers have recently realised that it is possible to research their planned holiday fully online. Users can find out about specific regional information at the click of a mouse. Small local hotels, specific local attractions and regional tours can be researched with ease before a booking is considered.

In the early years of the Internet, consumers tended not to trust booking online. It was perceived that parting with credit card details over the Internet was not a secure method of payment. Users instead tended to research everything they wanted to know before hand and then contact their travel agent either face-to-face or over the phone to book their holiday package.

The Internet offers an effective means for developing a single and sustainable electronic infrastructure for information gathering and business transactions for both travellers and suppliers. It is an ideal method for people to source information on travel. It is therefore essential for travel-related Websites to offer useful, pertinent and easy-to-find information alongside a booking facility if appropriate. The Internet can be used to fully research a destination, book all aspects of the holiday including travel and communicate others who have the same ideas or have been through similar experiences. It gives travellers an excellent opportunity to compare and contrast everything on offer before they make a purchase.

The information available online is continually being reformatted and presented in a more logical, easy-to-use and read format. The volume of consumers that rely on this information to make travel-related decisions will therefore continue to rise. In addition, features and benefits of using the Internet to research and book holidays are improving and being added to all the time. For example, consumers no longer have to receive printed tickets from the travel operator. They simply print out any information that they require themselves after they receive it automatically via email.

The Internet has meant that people can now easily plan trips for themselves. This has not only opened up a greater amount of discounts available to the general public, but also given people the fun and enjoyment of planning and booking their own trips.

Are travel agents a thing of the past? The future isnt looking too rosy for them. They might perhaps retain their presence in certain specialist markets, where they can offer a unique service to individual market segments but if youre a love all, serve all travel agent youve probably seen your income levels drop significantly over the last few years.

Dance Shoes And Apparel

Dancing! - For many dancing expressions is one of lifes natural ways of expressing emotions. For others dance must be learned. And, alas, others seemingly have no rhythm at all; no amount of dance lessons can help! We all have various gifts and giftings.

For those who do dance it is also a given understanding that the dance clothes that we wear all show what we feel. There are many different styles of dancing in the world: tap, irish step, western, barn dancing, country music, swing, clogging, foxtrot, ballroom and waltz just to name a few.

And with these many different styles of dance are their individual styles of clothing for each dance. The clothes that are worn for a ballroom dancing event is of a more formal wear. Dance clothes for swing and the tango are informal and vibrant in looks. The infamous "10 Gallon Hat" is often worn in western, country or barn dances.

Since dancing is an activity that uses our bodies to express ourselves, we need to choose the different styles of dance with care. This also means that you need to think about the type of dance apparel that will reflect the story that your dance is telling. So when the time comes for you to choose clothes for a dancing event you should see what styles are acceptable in the dancing field.

The type of dance apparel can sometimes be dictated by the event that you are participating in. An example of this is the dance apparel that is worn for ceremonies and traditional dances. In these events the type of dance apparel is ones that have been traditionally used for hundreds of years. As an example, in Eastern countries a special stylized form of dance apparel is used in the performance of demon exorcizing dances. Here the costume or dance apparel that the dancer chooses to wear will either highlight his/her character or just proclaim individual status in the group.

As you see there are many reasons why dance apparel needs to be selected with care as regards to your dance. Parenting: Prescribing The Symptom

Rebecca was struggling with 3 year old Kevin's screaming. Whenever someone didn't do what he wanted, he screamed and screamed, hoping to get his way. Rebecca had tried many different things to get Kevin to stop screaming, such as time outs, telling him to use his words, walking away and ignoring him, taking away toys and taking away events, such as a birthday party. A couple of times she had lost it and screamed back at him. Nothing was working to get Kevin to stop screaming. Even though screaming didn't work for him to get his way, he kept doing it.

As Rebecca and I discussed it in a phone session, it became apparent to me that Kevin and Rebecca were stuck in a power struggle, with Rebecca trying to get Kevin to stop screaming and Kevin doing everything he could to resist being controlled. We needed another tactic.

"Rebecca, the next time Kevin screams, do what I call 'prescribing the symptom.' This means that you say to Kevin something like, "Kevin, maybe you are not screaming loud enough. Maybe if you scream louder, you will get what you want." You need to say it in a light tone of voice, with no anger. Almost matter-of-factly."

The next time Kevin screamed, Rebecca did exactly that.

"Kevin looked at me like 'are you kidding me?' and screamed louder. So I told him that it must not be loud enough, so he screamed louder. When I told him it still wasn't loud enough, he looked at me like I was nuts and stopped screaming. He hasn't screamed like that since!"

So what happened here? What happened is that Kevin was screaming to not be controlled by Rebecca, as well as hoping to get his way. When she actually told him to scream, the only way he could not be controlled by her was to stop screaming! Her prescribing the symptom also pointed out to him the absurdity of screaming to get his way.

Prescribing the symptom can work for many behaviors:

"Maybe if you whine even more, you will get what you want."

"I don't think your temper tantrum is quite doing it. Maybe if you kick harder and cry louder, you will get what you want. I'm sure you can do better than this."

"You know, that's a pretty good pout. But it's not quite good enough. Maybe if you pout even more you can get what you want."

"You are putting up a pretty good argument. Maybe if you argue longer and louder, you will get what you want."

You need to be sure that you do this right away, before you feel angry or frustrated. You need to be able to keep it light. It is important for your child to see you calm rather than flustered. Sometimes kids act out just to feel the sense of control over their parents' behavior when their parents get angry and flustered. It can give children a sense of power to upset people so much bigger than them.

Fortunately or unfortunately, prescribing the symptom can work with adults too - adults who are acting like kids and going into resistance. Many people automatically resist as soon as they think someone is trying to control them and prescribing the symptom can work wonders with these resistant people.

It might even work with your self. If you find yourself reaching for the box of cookies when you have vowed to lose weight, telling yourself that maybe eating the whole box will make you feel better and solve whatever problem or feelings you are trying to avoid with the cookies might just stop you in your tracks, as it did with Kevin!

Golf Fitness Tips - Five Benefits Of Adding A Few Simple Exercises To Your Golf Game

Fitness is a major priority for professional golfers on tour these days. Golf, like any other physical activity, takes a good amount of stamina because you're constantly pushing yourself to excel and you're doing a lot of walking while you're out on the course.

Although it's important to focus on improving your golf game, you'll also need to keep in shape in order to increase your stamina and prevent injury that could keep you out of commission. Here are a few tips that will help to keep you on track:

#1. Participate regularly in some form of strenuous cardio activity. This can be running, swimming, sprinting (hill sprints are excellent cardio builders and a good fat burner), stair stepping, treadmill, ect. This will also improve the strength in your hips and your lower body.

Always remember to stretch before and after any type of strenuous exercise. This is not only important to decrease soreness after your workout, but most importantly to help prevent injury.

#2. Improving Abdominal strength is helpful in preventing injuries to your lower back. This is an injury common to golfers. You can improve your abdominal strength by doing sets of sit ups, crunches, swimming, ect.

Another injury common to beginning golfers is shin splints. You may also have these if you've taken an extended lay off from the game and are just returning. The best recommendation that I can make for shin splints is to take a slower pace when starting out or returning to the game. I've personally suffered with shin splints ever since my days in the military and it just takes time to build or rebuild the strength in the muscles in that area of your legs.

Try riding a stationary bike regularly to increase your leg strength, hill sprinting (in short sets) will help a lot, but don't overdo it at first, swimming is also excellent because it takes the body weight off your legs. Hold on to the side of the pool and do plenty of kicking exercises, both on your stomach and on your back.

Once again, remember to take it slowly and you'll be back in the game before you know it.

#3. Upper body exercises will not only help your stamina, but also help you to improve your swing. Exercises like push-ups (arms and chest), sit-ups (lower back and abdominal muscles), mountain climbers (brutal, but effective) and even jumping jacks will help you to increase the strength in your torso and hips, which will result in you being able to have more "push off" power in your down swing, hit the ball straighter and farther than before and also improve your consistancy.

#4. It's also a proven fact that exercising regularly will help to reduce stress, therefore helping you to "keep your cool" on the back 9 while the other guy sweats and stresses out. You'll also feel better off of the course too. You can realistically count on a "whole life" benefit from working out. Oh, you'll also lose weight and lower your cholesterol.

Let's recap what we've learned here.

#5. Doing the correct exercises on a regular basis will help you to improve your golf game, reduce your risk of injury, increase your strength and stamina and also have great health benefits, such as weight loss, lowering bad cholesterol and looking and feeling emotionally better.

One last question....What are you waiting for?

Start incorporating fitness into your golf game today!

Take a Look at These Scary Halloween Books

My friends and I have tried may various ways to fete Halloween. Twenty years ago, we would joyfully don our Halloween costumes. Wearing the Halloween costumes was such a wonderful experience. We would of course consume our favorite Halloween foods and drinks, but what we were most eager to do is to take out the books that we used to call Halloween books. We took turns reading to the others just to scare them or at least give them the willies.

Our favorite collection of Halloween books is undoubtedly represented by Edgar Allen Poes books. These Halloween books will certainly have the same effect now, as they did before evn though it's years later.

I loved to read my favorite short stories - The Fall of the House of Usher and The Masque of the Red Death. The first one was about a haunted house while the second was about a Halloween party in a house where one imagines and one is trapped, with other people.

If you do not prefer to read Halloween books but you want something scarier and terrifying like the occult genre, a metaphysical, Para psychological, real people haunted by real ghosts and others like these, it is better to take true scary stories. I will recommend you the following:

Amityville Horror written by Jay Anson this book is really quite creepy. The book is based on true events. It has a photo of the real house on its cover. The windows and the doors make the house look alive. They are placed in a way that gives the illusion of a face. The book tells the story of a man who killed his family and of the new family who moved in and became possessed by the ghosts of the former house inhabitants. This is the first Halloween book that I remember when hear the words Halloween books.

The Shining written by Steven King most of Steven King books are good enough to be Halloween books but this one is so realistic that it makes you terrified. This Halloween book tells the story of a writer who is staying in a locked hotel with no electricity in New England full of ghosts, while outside there is a snowstorm.

The Mephisto Waltz by Fred Mustard Steward this one is a very good Halloween book. This Halloween book tells the story of a woman who is trying to get out but the guard dogs, Doberman Pinschers, are tracking her in a terrifying manner, whenever she tries to get out.

I do not approve these Halloween books to be read to children. There are just my favorite Halloween books for adults. Halloween books like The Happy Pumpkins will not make me tremble of fear for sure!

Lease Option To Buy Home Programs Popular With Bad Credit Home Buyers

Lease options to buy home programs are becoming increasing popular with those that have bad credit problems and can not normally qualify for a home mortgage loan, according to Jaime Polanco, real estate investor and President of AmeriVision Mortgage Corporation.

Many potential home owners believe that buying a home will overcome or fix a bad credit situation! They go from mortgage broker to mortgage broker looking for a loan that does not exist, rather than try and remedy the problem.

To qualify for a home mortgage loan the bad credit situation has to be fixed first, and not the other way around. Lease option to buy home programs provide that solution.

People who have benefited from a lease option to buy home program include those that are recently divorced, suffered bankruptcy, or where FICO credit scores are simply too low.

Lease option to buy home programs, also know as rent to own programs, are unlike regular mortgages because the applicant does not have to qualify for a loan.

The initial focus is on the ability to make monthly lease payments. As most are making rental payments anyway, this is not much of an issue. The second focus is on their future potential for purchasing the home.

Bad credit issues can be worked on, while living in the new home. Over time, most credit issues can be corrected.

Lease option to buy home programs make ideal alternatives for the self-employed, compared to traditional means of home ownership.

The original agreement for a lease option to buy home program states the purchase price the day the tenant moves in, and doesn't change. Any increase in the value of the home belongs to the tenant when the loan is closed.

Typically, with a lease option monthly payments are less than it would cost to own the same home. These monthly savings can be put away, and used to increase the down payment at the time of actual purchase."

Depending on the situation, a tenant can occupy the new home in just a few days or a move-in date can be scheduled around any current living situations.

A minimal down payment is required, or down payment assistance is available if needed. The down payment, and a monthly rent credit, will be deducted from the purchase price of the new home, reducing the amount of money needed at closing.

Lease option to buy home programs help tenants by improving their FICO score and they can look forward to home ownership in a relatively short period of time, concludes Polanco.

Holiday Happiness with Less

Holiday Happiness with Less, by Coach DQ

Are you crazy yet? In this frenetic space between Thanksgiving and the end of year holidays, everywhere I look I see it - those tight jaws and sunken eyes, the stressed out merry maker striving to be happy. On the flip side, I exchange heart-felt thanks and joyful greetings with many customers, business associates and friends that seem easier than at other times of the year. The difference seems to be in what attitude I take to the event.

If I am stressed out about perfection, things dont go nearly as well as when I just go with the flow. The same is true for gift giving and receiving. What if you just let yourself be you this year and enjoy what comes?

Create more happiness with less by letting go of overblown expectations. We are all perfectly imperfect. What do you need to let go of? Write it down and burn it.

Make a list of what you are tolerating about the holidays. Try for 100 or more things.

Review the list and make decisions - let it go, figure out a way to enjoy it, address it.

Imagine things simplified. What if you didnt have to buy a million gifts? How could you recognize folks without getting frustrated? Is there a charity you or they would appreciate giving to? What if you meet for coffee or give a gift certificate good for a movie in January instead of buying gifts? A friend I know gave her 96-year-old Grandmother six handwritten get out of exercise class free certificates. Her Grandmother doesnt like hanging out with all those old people lifting their arms in the air, so my friend arranges to visit at exercise time to give her a break. How simple!

Give yourself a gift, of time or pampering or whatever you need. This includes asking for what you want! If you see a drop dead something youve been wanting - just buy it and enjoy it! Or, call your mother and ask her to get it for you. She will be thrilled that you actually like what she gives you!

Get over thats the way it is. You are always at choice to continue or change things. Make the suggestion to change and see what happens.

Get over your stuff. If it truly is the way it is, change your perspective. If Aunt Susie truly loves to make that horrid dish or give outlandish gifts, join her in the joy of the experience and see where it takes you!

Find joy and breath! Choose to wake up and be positive. Find or write a quote that brings you happiness and read it each morning.

Connect. Call someone you care about and havent visited with. Create a tele-date if you cant get together and spend 10 or 60 minutes enjoying your relationship.

Relax and know. The holidays will come and go. You choose to be crazy or say no to those things that wont feed you. Know you are a magnificent, brilliant being who has the power and radiance to connect where it is most important heart to heart with those around you.

Peace and ease for the holiday season!

The Connection Between Blogs and Dating

What do online dating and blogging have to do with each other? At first blush it may not seem like much, but dating blogs are becoming an increasingly popular feature on online dating websites. Blogs, or online journals, can be used to address dating issues to a wide audience, or just serve as a personal space for online dating clients to record their daily thoughts or ideas. The privacy settings that most dating blogs offer let also let people keep track of their dating history online, or keep friends up to date on the romance in their lives.

Dating blogs are among many of the new features that are being offered by online dating sites. Nowadays, Internet dating isn't relegated only to messaging and browsing, but also allows people to create and customize their own profile pages. Dating blogs are just one aspect of this.

The topics people choose to discuss on their dating blogs range as widely as the many personalities found on each website. Some popular topics include dating advice, humour, dating etiquette, and single parenthood. One of the greatest advantages of the personal dating blog is its flexibility. Members can use their dating blog space to serve whatever purpose they want, whether they want to talk about very personal issues, or really topics that relate to everyone.

What sets dating blogs apart from regular blogs? Not much really, aside from the content of a blog, or its location. By nature blogs are extremely personal and flexible in terms of what people choose to write about. However, blogs found on online dating websites are usually written by people who want a space to talk about dating issues, and want to discuss things that they know others on the site will be interest in. Most of the blogs found on Internet dating sites will touch on issues related to love, romance, or dating.

Russian Superstitions

Russians are very superstitious people. They will deny this, but it is true. These superstitions affect my life on a daily basis. Most of the time they are harmless and I go along with them to humor my wife. Sometimes I tease her about them.

New superstitions pop up all the time, as new situations arise in our life. I keep telling her that I need a rulebook for them. Perhaps someday I will codify them in a book.

Russians are raised with these superstitions so they have no need to consult a manual.

Here are some of them. It is by no means an exhaustive list:

1) You cant whistle in the house or car, as they believe that you are whistling away your money.

At a dinner party at our house, a friend of mine started whistling. My wife silenced him immediately. She explained to him, You can whistle in your own house, but you cant whistle in mine. In my house, its my money you are whistling away.

When she first came to America, she would see people standing at intersections holding signs. She asked me what they were doing. I told her they were asking for money. She asked me why. I told her that they had done entirely too much whistling in their house for their own good.

2) If you step on your spouses shoe by accident, you have to let the other person step on your shoe, or you will have an argument.

I never tested this superstition. It seemed easier to go along with the remedy than pay the price for violating it.

3) If you leave your house, you cannot go back inside for something you have forgotten, or your trip will result in nothing good, as my wife says.

4) If you must go back in to get the forgotten item, you can try to mitigate the bad effects of returning by looking into the mirror at your own reflection for a moment before you leave again.

5) Never demonstrate anothers surgery or wound on your own body with your hand or other means as you are likely to visit that upon yourself.

In the few times I have done this, my wife has tried to remedy this by wiping away the spot where I made the imaginary incision with her hand, blowing on her hand to blow it away to the wind, and covering it with the sign of the cross.

6) Never give a Russian woman an even number of flowers. Even numbers are for the dead. Always give odd numbers. When you order a dozen, or two dozen roses, for her, ask them to throw in an extra one for good luck.

7) Never give yellow flowers to a Russian woman. It signifies infidelity and may mean that your relationship will not last.

8) Never give a watch as a gift to a Russian woman. Time is running out on your relationship.

9) Never give knives or handkerchiefs as gifts. I dont know the reason for this one.

10) Never celebrate a birthday early. You are pushing your luck.

11) Dont show your newborn baby to strangers until after forty days. They are waiting for their soul to arrive and they may take on anothers soul or energy during that time.

12) Its best to cut your hair or nails during a full moon.

13) It's considered bad luck to shave or cut your hair when a family member is in danger or bad health.

14) Whenever someone praises you or offers a positive comment, you knock on wood or imaginarily spit three times over your left shoulder so that you are not jinxed by the comment.

15) Do not shake hands or kiss over the threshold of a door. It forms a bridge that allows the devil or evil spirits from the outside to enter the house this way. When I have done this by mistake, my wife usually pushes me back outside or pulls me inside before greeting me with a kiss at the front door.

16) Before anyone takes a long trip, the whole family sits together silently for a few minutes before the traveler leaves.

17) The truly superstitious have been known to eat lucky bus tickets, when the sum of the left three numbers equals the sum of the three numbers on the right.

18) Recently, while preparing to give my infant daughter a bath, the little tyke peed on me while I was taking her clothes off. My wife laughed and said that it was good news. It meant that I would live to dance at my daughters wedding!

This list is not exhaustive by any means. Superstitions vary by country and locale. There is a popular Russian television show that travels around the country exploring the unique superstitions of each particular town or village.

Many of the superstitions came from folk tales or fairy stories, Russian Orthodox tradition, or had peasant or agricultural roots. Most Russians are only one or two generations from the farm or village.

At any rate, be aware of the superstitions and try to show some respect for them whether or not you believe in them. Your Russian friends will appreciate it.
